RRB NTPC Exam: The Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) Computer-Based Examination of the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will be conducted in three shifts from 05 June to 24 June 2025. This exam is not only an academic challenge for the candidates but also a psychological test, which tests their reasoning, time management, and mental balance. Only ten days are left for the exam, so now it has become necessary that the students should rely not only on bookish knowledge but also on the working style of the brain and practical knowledge. If you revise by planning based on psychological principles, then your chances of succeeding in the exam increase.
Time is short, the 80/20 rule will make you successful.
This exam consists of a total of 100 questions, which have to be solved in 90 minutes. These include general knowledge (40 questions), mathematics (30 questions), and reasoning (30 questions). It is not possible to revise the entire syllabus in the last few days, but according to the 80/20 rule, 20% of important topics can fetch 80% marks. Using this principle, students should focus on those topics from which questions are asked repeatedly in the exam.
Principles of preparation
Cognitive load theory is very useful during this period. According to this, the brain can effectively absorb only limited information in a limited time. So, focus on only one subject at a time. Similarly, according to the self-efficacy theory, when you have high expectations of success in your efforts, then your brain starts making more effort. Goal-setting theory also applies at this time. Set a clear goal every day, like one mock test, 50 GS questions, revision of two weak topics, and finally self-evaluate it.
Doubtful questions
Get used to the computer-based test interface by taking mock tests in advance. This will prevent nervousness in the actual exam. Solve questions in three levels, like those questions which you know 100%, then those which you are 70% sure about and finally solve the doubtful questions, this saves your time. There is also a provision of negative marking in this exam. So do not guess without thinking.
Sleep is important
Ignoring sleep is the biggest mistake. According to the sleep consolidation theory, sleep improves the ability to remember. So, take at least six to seven hours of sleep.
