Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 2 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday said that India must be saved from the "pathetic situation" where the government is issuing a commemorative stamp and coin for the RSS centenary, linking it to the ideology of those behind Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.
Stalin added that on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, people should pledge to protect the nation from divisive forces, stressing that his ideals remain a source of strength against hatred.
In a post on X, MK Stalin wrote, "Our India, the architect who sowed the seeds for the fundamental principle of being a secular nation for people of all religions, is the revered Gandhiji! Whenever seeds of hatred are sown among the people and divisive forces raise their heads, he is the power that forever grants us the strength to confront them."

"From this pathetic situation where the person in charge of the nation is issuing a commemorative stamp and coin for the centenary of the RSS movement, which gives concrete form to the dreams of the communalist who assassinated our Father of the Nation, India must be saved! This is the pledge that all the people of the country must take on the birthday of Gandhiji!" the post read.
Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, revered as Mahatma Gandhi, was the pioneer of non-violent resistance. Through his philosophy of ahimsa and satyagraha, he mobilised millions of Indians to participate in the freedom struggle against British colonial rule.
On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse at Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi, just months after India attained independence.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the Chief Guest at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister released a specially designed commemorative postage stamp and coin highlighting the RSS's contributions to the nation and will also address the gathering. (ANI)
