New Delhi: The International Solar Alliance ( ISA), presided over by India, will review progress, identify challenges, and take measures to promote affordable solar energy for all-especially for the least developed countries and small island states-at its upcoming assembly later this month, Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday.

Joshi, who also serves as President of the ISA Assembly, said the alliance is united by a shared belief that the future is solar.

Launched by India and France at COP21 in Paris, the ISA is the largest treaty-based intergovernmental organisation from the Global South, bringing together 124 member and signatory countries.

The eighth ISA Assembly will be held from October 27 to 30, just weeks ahead of COP30 in Brazil.

The alliance will focus on derisking investments in distributed renewable energy, including rooftop solar and solar pumps for agriculture in small island states and Africa, to encourage private sector participation.

Highlighting India's achievements in deploying solar at both utility and distributed levels-through initiatives like PM Suryaghar-Renewable Energy Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi said India is ready to partner with other countries on similar projects.
