Mann ki Baat: PM Modi hails 'Made in India' defence power and tech in Operation Sindoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the role of indigenously developed defence technology in the success of ‘ Operation Sindoor’, describing it as a “testament to India’s blood and sweat” and a reflection of a self-reliant nation.

Speaking during his monthly radio show Mann ki Baat, the Prime Minister praised how equipment and technology ' made in India' played a decisive role in the cross-border counter-terror operation.

“Our soldiers destroyed the terror bases, it was their indomitable courage and it included the power of weapons, equipment and technology made in India. It also had the resolve of 'self-reliant India',” said PM Modi.

“The sweat of everyone, our engineers, our technicians, is involved in this victory. From our engineers, technicians, Operation Sindoor is testament to India's blood and sweat and an example of the power of 'Made in India'," he added.

‘Operation Sindoor’ was launched by Indian armed forces targeting nine terror hideouts across the Pakistan occupied Kashmir and parts Pakistan. This was a retaliation to the Pahalgam attack where terrorists claimed lives of 26 people.

What were the Made in India defence systems/ equipments used in Op Sindoor?
During Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces employed several indigenous defense systems that showcased the nation's self-reliance in military technology.

Key among these was the Akash Surface-to-Air Missile System, which played a crucial role in neutralizing aerial threats. The Akashteer Air Defence Control and Reporting System also proved instrumental, effectively intercepting drones and missiles with a 100% success rate.

Additionally, the deployment of T-72 Main Battle Tanks along the Line of Control enhanced ground defense capabilities. The operation also highlighted the successful use of SkyStriker Loitering Munitions, developed in collaboration with Israel, for precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure.

'Op Sindoor is a symbol of India's courage'
The Prime Minister described it as more than a military mission, calling it a symbol of India's courage and evolving stance.

“The valor shown by our forces during 'Operation Sindoor' has made every Indian proud. The precision with which our forces destroyed terrorist hideouts across the border is amazing. 'Operation Sindoor' has given new confidence and enthusiasm to the fight against terrorism across the world,” he said.

The Prime Minister also said that the campaign has sparked renewed interest in local manufacturing. “After the campaign, Vocal for local has seen a new found enthusiasm,” he said.

He said the mission has filled the country with patriotic emotion. “'Operation Sindoor' is not just a military mission, it is a picture of our resolve, courage and changing India and this picture has filled the entire country with patriotic feelings and coloured it in the tricolour,” said Modi.

“Today the entire country is united against terrorism, is filled with anger and is determined. Today this is the resolve of every Indian, we have to end terrorism,” he said.
