Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) marked the 78th Independence Day of India with great pride and enthusiasm at its iconic headquarters. On this momentous occasion, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani hoisted the national flag and extended heartfelt greetings to the citizens of Mumbai.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of key dignitaries including Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. (Mrs.) Ashwini Joshi, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr. Amit Saini, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar, along with Joint Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Directors, Assistant Commissioners, Heads of Departments, BMC officers, staff, and Mumbai residents.

The celebration commenced with Gagrani offering floral tributes to the full-length statue of Sir Feroz Shah Mehta, located in front of the BMC headquarters. He also paid tribute to the painting of the Vasudev Balkrishna Warlikar at the Mayor's office. Gagrani was paid tribute to on behalf of the Mumbai Fire Brigade and Security Team of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Addressing the gathering, he said that we are all ready to maintain the power and sovereignty of the new India. After Operation Sindoor, India has a new identity for the whole world. Let us all take an oath today to carry out that identity more effectively. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is constantly trying to serve the people of Mumbai. May the love of all Mumbaikars always be with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Gagrani mentioned.

The Honorable President of India has announced awards for quality service to Senior Central Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Santosh Raosaheb Ingole, Firefighter Sunil Suresh Desale and Firefighter Yogesh Hanmant Kondawar. These officers and employees were felicitated by Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani.

Additionally, the annual publication ‘Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Annual Publication 2025’ was officially released by Gagrani. This booklet is prepared every year by the Municipal Secretary's Department.
