Mumbai: A 50-year-old woman died near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Sunday. While she was crossing the road in the rain, a car driver hit her. The driver, Gurvinder Singh Kir, 48, was detained by the Bandra police. The woman’s identity remains unknown, and the police are attempting to identify her and locate her relatives.
About The Case
According to the FIR, at around 10:30 pm on Sunday, the Bandra police received information that an accident had occurred near the Sea Link. The police immediately arrived at the scene and discovered a woman, around 50 years old, lying unconscious on the northbound road near the MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited) office, close to the Sea Link. She was transported to Bhabha Hospital, Bandra West, where doctors declared her dead during treatment. Her body was then sent to Cooper Hospital, Juhu, for a post-mortem examination.

However, the deceased appears to be a destitute woman. No documents or mobile phone were found with her. When the incident occurred, it was nighttime, and it was also raining. The car driver might not have seen her and hit her.”
The police traced the car driver, detained him, and brought him to the police station. He has been identified as Gurvinder Singh Kir, 48, a crusher plant businessman residing in Santacruz West. The police registered an FIR against him under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with section 184 (dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act. The case was filed on Monday, and he was subsequently detained and served a notice.
