Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's rarely seen daughter Aimee Osbourne once opened up about the heartfelt reason she chose to keep her career hidden. Being born to famous parents, the 41-year-old admitted she feared being seen as a "nepo baby", a term used to describe someone who gains success or opportunities through familial connections.
Unlike her younger siblings Jack and Kelly Osbourne, Aimee decided not to take part in the family's popular MTV reality show, The Osbournes, as well as other projects such as their family podcast.
Instead, the singer opted to pursue a career of her own. Reflecting on her journey into music, Aimee said she was "shy" about singing at first, until one of her mother's friends introduced her to songwriters.

She explained: "I grew up around a lot of music and then I guess just having that kind of creative environment, it was kind of like a natural part of my everyday life.

"And then I was always interested in writing music and singing, but I was very shy and almost embarrassed about it, because I didn't want that whole nepotistic thing, that just felt really awkward, so I kept it a secret."
Previously speaking in an interview on the Greatest Music of All Time YouTube Channel, she went on to recall the moment that changed her perspective.
"My mum's friend overheard me singing, I think in my room or something, and she said, 'Well, would you like to come and stay with me? And, I know these people that write this music, very similar to what you like, and I think you should come and see what happens'."
Aimee admitted she was "very hesitant and secretive about it" at first, and "felt very shy".
"Then the trip went really well and I kind of surprised myself, and then it kind of went from there," she added.
After deciding to stay away from projects associated with her family, she went on to release music under the name ARO (her initials).
Aimee has also starred in MTV’s 2003 adaptation of Wuthering Heights and in 2014, she recorded a voiceover for Postman Pat: The Movie.
In 2018, Sharon shared her thoughts on her eldest daughter's decision to keep away from the spotlight.
Speaking on The Talk, she said: “She felt too that she didn’t want to grow up on camera, and so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did.”
Despite keeping her distance professionally, Aimee appeared to have a close relationship with her parents, but not so much with her siblings.
On Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, in 2021, Kelly said: “We don’t talk. We’re just really different. She doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand her.”
Earlier this week, the family put their differences aside for Ozzy's funeral, which took place in Birmingham.

Understandably, the three siblings struggled to fight back tears as they supported their grieving mother Sharon, in front of a crowd of fans paying their respects.
Alongside them was believed to be Ozzy's son Louis, one of his other three children from his first marriage to Thelma Riley.
Ozzy died surrounded by his family on July 22. His cause of death hasn't been confirmed, though he had a string of health issues including Parkinson's Disease.
