Residents of a quiet London suburb were left stunned this week when Hollywood superstar Sandra Bullock was spotted filming Practical Magic 2 right on their doorstep.
The Hamptons, a housing development in Worcester Park, Surrey, has been transformed into a New England-style seaside town for the highly anticipated sequel.
The area has been dressed with shopfronts, food stands, and even vintage American cars to recreate the charm of the original 1998 movie. Local residents were astonished to see the Oscar-winning actress strolling the streets in full costume as witch Sally Owens.
Retired nurse Karin Burke told SurreyLive that the excitement was enough to tempt her outside despite a sprained ankle. She shared: "I had hardly been out all week, but our friend said we must get out and see the set. I saw stores and market stalls with plastic fish and ice, it looked fantastic."

Bullock isn’t the only original star to have been spotted in Worcester Park. Fellow Oscar-winner Diane Wiest has also returned to reprise her role in the film as Aunt Jet, the matriarch who raised sisters Sally and Gillian after their parents fell victim to the Owens family curse.
Wiest was seen walking through the newly decorated streets in character, much to the delight of locals who couldn’t believe their neighbourhood had been turned into a Hollywood film set.
The first Practical Magic became a cult classic after its release in 1998, with Bullock and Nicole Kidman starring as magical sisters who have to face down the vengeful spirit of Gillian’s abusive boyfriend.
While plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, it’s widely expected that the story will once again centre on the family curse that has haunted generations of Owens women.
Nicole Kidman, who confirmed her return last year, teased fans in an interview with Variety, saying the project was “moving ahead rapidly” but declined to share more, joking: "I’m not answering anymore, you can ask Sandy… my beautiful Sandy."
The cast for Practical Magic 2 is set to include fresh faces such as The Act star Joey King, Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams, Guardians of the Galaxy actor Lee Pace, and Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña.
King will be taking over the role of Kylie Owens, Sally’s daughter, which is a part that was originally played by Evan Rachel Wood.
Wood confirmed earlier this year that she had not been invited back to Practical Magic, despite offering to reprise her former role. She told fans on Instagram : "I was not asked to come back and be in the #PracticalMagic sequel. I offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line.
"I was told they are re-casting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters."
Warner Bros. has announced the film will hit cinemas in September 2026, almost three decades after the original. The studio teased fans with a reference to the iconic midnight margaritas scene from the first film, promising: "We are thrilled to bring the Owens family back to the big screen."
