After this, the officials deployed force around the Hakim's house. During the search operation that lasted for hours, no one was allowed to come close to the house. Hakim was taken into custody late at night.
It was found that he was running an arms factory. The police took away cartridges in 20 sacks. The police also found arms manufacturing equipment. Mirzaganj resident Salauddin alias Lala (72) has a wife and two daughters in his family. Till a few years ago, Salauddin used to run a dispensary near the post office.

Police patrolling suddenly increased in Mirzaganj late Thursday evening and in a short time, the force of many police stations including Malihabad surrounded Salauddin's house and raided it. 312, 315 bore weapons along with DBBL rifles and pistols were recovered, whose number is around 300. A large number of cartridges were found, which were filled in 20 sacks and taken away. Police have arrested Salauddin, his wife, daughter and a youth named Awais.
What did the neighbours say?
Salauddin's neighbours said that Salauddin belongs to an educated family. He is also a hakim by profession. He used to give medicines to people. He does business of honey. His wife teaches in school, one of his daughters studies in Integral University and the other daughter is married and is living abroad. We do not talk to him much. He greets him while coming and going from home but he is not very sociable. We have not taken any medicine from him till date but other people used to come to take medicine. When the police raided here, no one was allowed to come and go in this street. Therefore, we did not know what was recovered from inside.
Suspicion of large scale supply of arms
Police have expressed suspicion that arms were being manufactured inside houses in densely populated areas and were being supplied on a large scale across the state. A large number of outsiders used to visit Salauddin's house. According to ADCP North Jitendra Dubey, information about an arms factory was received on Thursday evening. Upon raiding the house, a large number of arms, cartridges, arms manufacturing equipment and some other items were recovered. Police have taken the house owner Salauddin into custody and are interrogating him.
