Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Wednesday reviewed the construction of the new Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi.
It is being reconstructed in the Chanakyapuri area.
During the meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan here, the Chief Minister said that the building’s design should reflect and advised architects to incorporate Odisha’s heritage, including traditional stone craftsmanship, Sambalpuri ikat, and cultural motifs.
He also instructed officials to expedite the construction process.
The new G+6 (7-storey) building will be constructed over 4,761 sqm and feature 45 rooms/suites along with a modern conference hall, a CMO release said.
Considering the high number of cancer patients from Odisha seeking treatment in Mumbai, Majhi also advised officials to provide additional rooms in the Odisha Bhawan there. He also suggested construction of new Bhawans in Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat, to serve devotees and the large Odia diaspora.
The meeting also discussed the repair and renovation of Utkal Bhawan in Kolkata.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shashwat Mishra, Principal Secretary (Finance) Sanjeev Mishra, and Principal Secretary (Public Works) Sanjay Kumar Singh were present.
