Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has issued guidelines for Durga Puja idol immersion procession in Bhubaneswar on October 3.
Bhasani Committees— Saheed Nagar, Nayapalli, Chandrasekharpur, and Old Town— have been assigned specific routes for the immersion procession a specific route to be held between 2 pm and 1 am when vehicle movement will be restricted.
>> All the medhas of Shaheed Nagar Bhasani Samiti will be congregated at Shaheed Nagar, and then proceed towards Rajmahal Chhak via Ram Mandir Chowk and Master Canteen Chhak. No vehicles will be allowed to ply on Janpath Road during this immersion procession. Commuters are instead advised to take the Sachivalay Marg route and its adjoining roads.
>> All the medhas of Nayapalli Bhasani Committee will be congregated at Nayapalli before proceeding towards Soor Company Chhak via Nayapalli Underpass, CRP Chhak, DAV Chhak and take a right turn to Gopabandhu Chhak, Siripur Chhak. Vehicles proceeding towards Jayadev Vihar from CRP side will be diverted at CRP Square towards Ekamra Park Road till the end of the Bhasani Yatra. Additionally, vehicles playing on Stewart School Road, Unit-8 Road, and OUAT Chhak to New Airport Road are advised to use internal connecting roads to avoid congestion.
>> All the medhas of the Chandrasekharpur Bhasani committee will be congregated at Club Town Apartment field, and the proceed to Nalco Chhak via Damana Square. Vehicles coming towards Jaydev Vihar Square from Nandankanan Square can use the connecting roads at KIIT Square or Kalarahang Square during this immersion procession.
It further stated that heavy vehicles/buses en route to Bhubaneswar from Khurda will not be allowed to ply on the service road and should instead use the main carriageway or National Highway.
The Commissionerate Police clarified that these traffic restrictions do not apply to emergency services such as Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulances, and Excise Department vehicles.
Sites are designated for immersion are as follows:
1. Two locations near the Kuakhai river – one at Palasuni and the other at Hanspal.
2. Near Daya river at Lingipur (Puri road).
3. Near Kuakhai river, Basuaghai on Tankapani Road.
4. Near Centurion-KITS campus under JMC, Jatni.
5. Temporary site made by Chandaka gram panchayat near NIT.
6. Kusabhadra river and other temporary locations under Balipatna police limits, and Bhingarpur panchayat and a temporary pond at Ramchandrapur near the Canal.
