US President Donald Trump hit back at CNN as they questioned him live on air. The news channel shared a breaking update as he answered questions from the press during a public appearance, but a reporter's questions backfired when he branded them "fake news" and bashed their interview skills.
The CNN reporter asked a question about his supporters being wary of the US getting involved in another foreign war. But, while wearing his 'Make America Great Again' cap, Trump hit back saying: "Oh, well it's fake news that fortunately nobody watches." The news correspondent then went to ask another question but the President interrupted her as he asked: "Does anybody even watch CNN nowadays? I haven't seen it in a long time." The reporter then continued trying to get answers from Trump but the 79-year-old politician continued to put her down as he asked: "Do you ever ask a positive question at CNN?"
Trump continued: "My supporters are more in love with me today, and I'm in love with them. More than they were even at election time where we had a landslide. We won all seven swing states. Did CNN report that? We won by millions of votes."
However, fans watching the news show were not impressed with Mr Trump as they bashed him for "not answering the question". Posting to X (Twitter), one viewer sarcastically penned: "Way to answer the question Mr president."
Another fumed: "Just answer the question," while a third said: "This is Trump's standard response when asked a question he doesn't like or can't answer - push back on the reporter or media organisation and deflect. He gets away with it every time."
As fans say, it is not the first time that Trump has clapped back in a fiery fashion when being questioned by the press. Earlier this month, NBC reporter Yamiche Alcindor asked him if he was trying to go to war with Chicago, but the world leader tore into the journalist in his blunt response.
He leaned towards the reporter and replied: "When you say that, darling, that's fake news." He added: "I don't go to war with the Department of Defence. Listen, be quiet.
"You don't listen, you don't listen, you never listen. That's why you're second grade. We're not going to war, we're gonna clean up our cities. We're gonna clean them up so they don't kill five people every weekend. That's not war - that's commonsense."
