A man who bought a £123,000 Chevrolet convertible made an astonishing decision after racking up fewer than 1,000 miles on the clock. The man bought the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible with almost £29,000 of optional extras.
The 2023 edition was designed to mark the 70th anniversary of the Corvette. But after shelling out on the luxury vehicle, the owner decided to auction it off, having driven just 729 miles. It didn't take long to sell however and the winning bidder found themselves splashing out £116,000 for the vehicle. The amount is close to Chevrolet's MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price).

According to autoevolution, the sale shows just how important specs are when buying and selling supercars. It comes after a Rapid Blue Z06 Convertible sold for around £23,000 less than its MSRP earlier this year.
The car had just 538 miles on the clock but its owner took a sizable financial hit when selling it. Meanwhile a Cacti Green ZO6 Convertible sold for almost £15,000 under its MSRP in May.
According to autoevolution, the most recently sold Z06 boasts a pearl white finish and a Carbon Fiber Aero package. It came complete with a front-axle lift system and competition sport bucket seats.
It has a retractable hard-top and a carbon fibre rear wing and mirror caps. The vehicle contains a 14-speaker Bose sound system as well as a performance data and video recorder, remote start, wireless charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system.
The vehicle was originally bought in Atlantic city, New Jersey. It was sold on Staten Island in New York on October 13.
Petrolheads say the owner now faces a difficult decision to either drive the vehicle or maintain it in the hope it makes a profit. One said: "It probably will appreciate in time due to the very low numbers built."
Another said: "Drive it! Appreciation is a long way off on these. If C7 65th Z06/Z07 7-spd's aren't going up, these won't."
The first Chevrolet Corvette went on sale in 1953. It has since become known for its distinctive appearance, high performance, and lightweight fiberglass or composite bodywork.
After its introduction, the firm received enough interest to mass market the vehicle. The initial release saw just 300 cars manufactured.
Upon announcing the anniversary model of the car, Steve Majoros from Chevrolet said: "Passion for Corvette runs deep at Chevrolet and this anniversary is extra special because of the excitement and sales success we've achieved with the eighth generation of America's iconic sportscar.
"Even after 70 years, Corvette still makes hearts race and kids dream of the open road."
