True Crime fans will not want to miss a brand new series featuring an Oppenheimer star as a chilling new trailer has been released.
Disney Plus has unveiled a first look at the harrowing new series called Murdaugh: Death in the Family which is slated for release on Wednesday, October 15. The first three episodes will premier, before one new episode every week.
The true crime series follows Maggie and Alex who enjoy a lavish life of privilege as members of one of South Carolina's most powerful legal dynasties. However, their son Paul is soon involved in a deadly boat crash as the family is "faced with a test unlike any they've ever encountered."
Disney Plus teases: "As details come to light and new challenges emerge, the family's connections to several mysterious deaths raise questions which threaten everything Maggie and Alex hold dear."
Inspired by the popular Murdaugh Murders Podcast, the series will consist of eight episodes in total, starring Jason Clarke (Oppenheimer) as Alex Murdaugh and Patricia Arquette (Severance) as Maggie Murdaugh.
Fans may also recognise Johnny Berchtold (The Passenger) as Paul Murdaugh, Will Harrison (Daisy Jones and the Six) as Buster Murdaugh, Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) as Mandy Matney, and J. Smith-Cameron (Succession) as Marian Proctor.
Announcing the news on Instagram, Disney Plus wrote: "Inspired by shocking actual events. Murdaugh: Death in the Family premieres October 15 on @hulu and with #HuluonDisneyPlus for bundle subscribers. #MurdaughonHulu."
And fans were quick to share their excitement as one person wrote: "looks great cant wait." Another replied: "Oh my god. I did not recognize @patriciaarquette 's voice at all. This looks beyond intense. So. Many. Awards."

A chilling trailer has been released in which Jason Clarke as Alex Murdaugh can be heard saying: "It's only cheating if you get caught", before later stating: "Family first." The trailer plunges fans into a shocking discovery as the powerful family's secrets promise to be unravelled.
The Murdaugh family are widely known for living a life of crime involving dozens of victims. The series is inspired by the Murdaugh Murders Podcast which discusses the criminal investigations surrounding the American family including Drugs, fraud and murder.
However, this is not the first time the Murdaguh Murders has been on screen with Netflix previously releasing a documentary about the notorious family.
Some fans remain unconvinced as one fan said on Instagram: "Good lord. This family does not need more attention."
Another added: "How many movies or series about this family has to be made?"
Murdaugh: Death in the Family will premier on Disney Plus and Hulu on October 15.
