Napoli have reportedly thrown their hat into the ring for Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund. The Denmark international's future at Old trafford is still uncertain as the summer transfer window rolls on.
Rumours of Hojlund potentially leaving United have intensified since Benjamin Sesko's £74million transfer from RB Leipzig earlier this month. The 22-year-old absence from the squad in the Premier League loss to Arsenal on Sunday, which has only led to the speculation becoming more prominent.
United are reported to be open to offers around £30million for Hojlund, and AC Milan's interest has been well-documented. However, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Napoli have now entered the running and are keen to lure the striker to Italy.
Romano's report on X, formerly known as Twitter, indicates that discussions have taken place between Napoli, United, and Hojlund's representatives regarding a possible transfer, with a loan move being mooted. Yet, it's understood that Hojlund would prefer a permanent move with Napoli should he make the switch.
Despite the swirling rumours, Hojlund has previously affirmed his commitment to United during their pre-season tour in the United States, expressing his determination to stay and compete for his place, reports the Manchester Evening News.
"I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens," Hojlund said in an interview across the Atlantic earlier this summer.
"Competition is fine with me, it sharpens me. I'm more than ready. I'm feeling sharp, so I'm welcoming everything that comes."
United have until September 1 to complete their transfer business and it remains to be seen if Hojlund will leave the club before the deadline. United will face Fulham in the Premier League this weekend and it's still unclear if Hojlund will be involved in the matchday squad for the fixture.
New signing Sesko was named on the bench for the defeat to Arsenal but was introduced in the second half. Ruben Amorim could look to hand a start to Sesko in the clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
