Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has cancelled the land allotment for New Senior Secondary School in Sarabha Nagar and directed the school to hand over possession within 15 days. The decision was formally conveyed to the school's secretary by LIT chairman. The school is run by Shivalik Public Welfare Trust, with the allotment originally made to its president. The property has now been declared as belonging to LIT.

On May 16, SDM (east), Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, directed the district education officer (secondary) to take immediate possession of all school records and assume supervision of its operations.

The move followed serious allegations by New High School Alumni (Old Student Association), which accused the school's management committee of misusing funds. An FIR was registered at police division no. 5 on Jan 8, alleging that 4.71 acres of land, originally allotted by LIT at subsidised rates, was illegally subdivided and transferred for commercial use.

According to the FIR, the current management violated allotment terms by leasing out parts of the land at high rents and tampering with the original sale deed. The land, meant for educational purposes, was allegedly misused for personal gain.

Last year, the deputy commissioner's office launched an inquiry into the matter, forming a three-member committee to investigate the misuse of school property. The committee was tasked with submitting a conclusive report to the DC's office.
