RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company’s (CSPTC) technical expertise will now aid Madhya Pradesh’s power infrastructure. Chhattisgarh will provide its 400 KV tower designs to Madhya Pradesh and in return, receive 220 KV and 132 KV tower designs from Madhya Pradesh. This exchange of technology and skill will benefit both state power companies. The new technology will reduce land requirements for installing large transmission towers.
The main objective of this collaboration is to enhance power supply reliability, improve technical efficiency, and minimise operation and maintenance costs.
Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company chairman Subodh Kumar Singh stated that mutual exchange of technologies enhances efficiency for all parties, and both states benefiting is a welcome development.
He added that technological upgrades are essential to meet future challenges. Rajesh Kumar Shukla, managing director, said that the cooperation and technical partnership between the two companies will benefit both states through the exchange of modern transmission systems, technology, and training.
The agreement between CSPTC and MP Power Transmission Company was signed in Jabalpur. Executive director K S Manothia from Chhattisgarh and executive director from MP Samir Nagotia signed the agreement.
Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company has expertise in erecting 400 KV extra-high voltage towers. Its design was sent to the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bengaluru, where it was deemed superior after evaluation.
Madhya Pradesh’s 220 KV and 132 KV narrow base ultra-high voltage tower designs are considered superior, requiring less land for installation, especially in urban areas where land availability is limited. These designs reduce the foundation space needed for towers by almost half, minimising impact on farmers' land. Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company had sought a fee of Rs 2.89 crore for these designs. With Chhattisgarh providing its 400 KV tower design in exchange, Chhattisgarh will gain Rs 2.89 crore.
Rajesh Kumar Shukla, managing director, Chhattisgarh Transco, said that this partnership will enhance the energy infrastructure of both states and represents a major innovation in the techno-commercial sector. He called it a "milestone" that will help meet future energy demands. This agreement will accelerate the technical development of both states and provide a new direction for regional energy cooperation.
