PM virtually inaugurates five Amrit rly stations in CG

Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country, including five in Chhattisgarh, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These upgraded stations aim to provide modern amenities to passengers. Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the inauguration event at Ambikapur railway station.

The five Amrit stations in Chhattisgarh are Ambikapur station in Bilaspur division, Urkura, Bhilai, and Bhanupratappur stations in Raipur division, and Rajnandgaon district's Dongargarh station in Nagpur division.

The PM said the world is surprised by India's developmental works. He highlighted projects such as the Chenab Bridge in the North, the Bogibeel Bridge in Assam, the Atal Setu in Mumbai, and the Pamban Bridge in the South, calling it a unique structure.

India is modernising its train network with the introduction of Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat trains, which symbolise the nation's new pace of progress. Over the past 11 years, hundreds of road overbridges and underbridges were constructed, and more than 34,000 km of new rail tracks were laid, said PM Modi.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 27 railway stations in Chhattisgarh are undergoing redevelopment. The scheme includes facilities such as separate waiting areas for women and ramps for divyangs. A total of 32 railway stations in the state were selected under this scheme, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,680 crore. Work on five of these stations was completed and they were inaugurated by the PM.

Attending the event at Ambikapur, CM Sai said, "Ambikapur, the headquarters of the tribal-majority Surguja district, and four other stations in Chhattisgarh are now prominent railway stations on the railway map." He thanked PM Narendra Modi for the Amrit stations.

Facilities at these Amrit Stations include grand entry gates, attractive décor, high-mast lighting, modern waiting halls, ticket counters, upgraded toilets, ramps for divyang individuals, platform shelters, coach indication systems, and digital display boards.

Chhattisgarh governor Ramen Deka was present at Urkura in Raipur, Union minister of state Tokhan Sahu in Bhilai, deputy chief minister Arun Sao in Bhanupratappur, and Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey was present at Dongargarh.
