Mangaluru CCB police on Thursday, July 3, arrested a notorious cattle thief who had turned to drug peddling. The accused, identified as Abdul Kabir alias “Parivala Kabir” (36), originally hailing from Kasaba Bengre, was residing in Asaigoli, Konaje.
According to the police, Kabir had been sourcing the banned synthetic drug MDMA from Bengaluru and Mumbai and selling it within the city—particularly targeting the youth and students. He was operating from a white car near Mudipu Kambala Padavu on the KIADB road, where he was caught red-handed.
Based on credible intelligence, CCB officials raided the spot and seized 12.05 grams of MDMA valued at ₹1,20,000. Along with the drugs, a car and other valuables totaling ₹4,31,250 were confiscated. A case has been registered at the Konaje Police Station.
Kabir is a repeat offender with over 15 cases of cattle theft registered against him across several police stations, including Panambur, Mangaluru South, North, East, Kankanady Town, Ullal, Bajpe, Uppinangady (Dakshina Kannada), and even in Madikeri rural limits (Kodagu district). Despite securing bail in many cases, he had been absconding and avoiding court appearances for nearly two years.
The operation was carried out by a team of CCB officers and personnel.
